As Iron Sharpens Iron,
So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. Proverbs 27:17

“Iron sharpening Iron”---What a concept! Seems as though no one wants to be sharpened anymore! Maybe God could just allow us to keep on being the dull drab people we like being, leaving us unkempt.

Iron means “cutting by (severing) or sharpening an instrument”. God loves to cut things from our lives and cause us to be sharp instruments of honor and war and praise and then enabling us to cut into the very marrow of other people’s lives.
As we as individuals see the way several things are “out-of-order” we have to look into the mirror and say, “what am I doing to bring the correct changes that God would require of me in the next few days, weeks, months or years.”

One way God will use to sharpen us as the Body of Christ is: to refute the “hireling spirit.” God is not putting us in a place “on-hold”. He is putting us in places to sharpen our sight (or insight) if you will.

A hireling says, “I will stay here until something better comes along” or “until what I am really called to, comes”.

God is not looking to GET us anywhere but His presence. He is very interested in you!  We all need inner healing from memories of the past. We also need healing in the mind.  Hence we have one converted mind cutting into another converted mind.  It sharpens the intellect and convictions.  It solidifies understanding and wisdom.

When you have disagreement and still have accountability, there is NO fear of losing position or credibility with others. We are all vulnerable at times and those are the times we must trust others to speak into our lives and sharpen our walk in Christ. When people around me love me and tell me, “There is a problem,” I must take a second look and decide whether I will be teachable or controlling. The latter is the easiest way to go, because it is the most comfortable.  We need to become teachable.

Being vulnerable is usually hard for all of us and shows a great deal of trust, or lack of trust. We generally have to be put in a position of sharing our deepest thoughts or feelings, with people we aren’t sure even have feelings!  Iron sharpening iron brings us face to face with hidden friends, a hidden God and perhaps even a hidden Judas. Yet, Jesus did not hide anything from Judas, even knowing he would betray him.  Hence we post opposing opinions.

Jesus became so emotionally involved in the disciples lives, that He was able to teach them who He was, and this is an area we seemed to have lost in the church. When we esteem others more highly than ourselves, there becomes a power available for us to tap into the very presence of God. God knows we cannot fake something like this, either we care or we talk about it. It’s been my experience that we talk more often than walk……

Hirelings know the Christian language.  They can spout off scripture that sounds good.  You have to be individually trained in discernment.   This page is presented for you to be the discerning party. We must continue to build lives and sharpen each other into the places God has planned for us…
